Nails on wedding day?
Hi -
Sorry if this has been asked before but what are you/have you done for your wedding day?
My nails are a good length and I plan on just getting a manicure with a light color (maybe waltz). Some people think that's wrong and I should get a french. French doesn't work on me because it will be smudged 2 mins after I leave the salon.
So did anyone else not do French?

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I am hoping my nails will cooperate for the next few months!! I've never had anything but "natural" nails. I've also never had a french, I don't think I can pull it off based on my nail shape, etc.
I figure I will just wear a sheer color.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I think french is really nice for a wedding. ... I don't think not getting french, is wrong! I just think french looks really nice, elegant and beautiful.
If you don't want it to smudge, I would recommend to get silk wraps over your natural nails. With wraps, the manicure really stays on!!!!!
W/o mine lasts 2 days. With it, 2 WEEKS!

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I have silk wraps and I like the fact that the polish lasts about 2 weeks with the wraps. I don't think I want French. Probably just a light pink

Re: Nails on wedding day?
My problem is any kind of wrap/tip destroy my nails... I did have wraps at one time and it took so long for my nails to get healthy again. Plus I hated the commitment of time and $$.
Thanks for your responses.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I'm going to get silk wraps with a french manicure.
ETA: I agree that they destroy your nails. I had wraps on my nails for a while and it took me a long time to get my nails healthy again. So I'm going to have them removed once I get back from the HM. When I get nail polish put on my natural nails it only lasts a couple of days With wraps on the other hand it lasts a couple of weeks.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I am blessed to have loyal nails. So I am going to go with my natural nails with a French mani; however, to help the manicure last throughout the honeymoon, I think i will have my nails wrapped. this will keep the nails and polish from chipping.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I have pretty good nails and I got them in a really good shape for the wedding. I still chose to get silk wraps over the nail with my French manicure because I wanted it to last for the wedding and 2 weeks in Europe for the Honeymoon. I hate chipped polish and I didn't want to waste any time in Italy on fixing my nails. I was told that silk wraps under the polish make it last longer, and it did! Looked great all 2 weeks!

Re: Nails on wedding day?
If you get silk wraps...do they cut your own nails and put those plasit ones on first? Or do they just put the wrap over your natural nail? What if your nails are not that long?

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I will stop biting my nails long enough to have a nice length and then will do a french. I've heard that french makes them look longer.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I've never had wraps or tips or anything, so i can't imagine doing it for my wedding. I 've never had french either. I 'm will probabaly get a very sheer peach or pink that sort of looks like a french manicure anyway, b/c your own nails show through, but its more subtle/natural looking. My nails are wide, so I don't want to draw attention to them. I'll try to keep them polished with clear the month before so they don't break.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
They don't cut your nails, they just glue a piece of silk wrap over them and file it down so it doesn't show.
I just want a plain manicure, Ballet Slippers is my color always anyway. But you are right about the idea of the wrap just for the honeymoon. The beach, sun and pool destroy nail polish!!
I may have to reconsider the natural and go for the wrap.... hmm...

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I had tips put on (very short) and a french manicure done. I think since you have a good length you should NOT have tips! It just ruins your nails! And there is nothing wrong with just painting your nails a color, you totally dont have to do the french manicure. My SIL wore red nails at her wedding, because it matched the color flowers she had and I thought it looked great!

Usually, silk nails recover much faster than acrylic. Also, NailTique nail polish really works.
I tool off my silk nails, after a year of wear, and after few weeks, with the nailtique treatment, they are GREAT! and healthy!
If you take them off right away, they probably won't get damaged at all.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I am not really sure what I am doing with my nails. Because of my current job I cant have long nails fake or real or wear any polish. Up until recently I had Permenant French with is the best thing ever invented. It is white and pink Acrylic on either your nails or tips they mold it to look like a french manicure the only thing is u never need polish. They buff it when they are done to give it a shine but the color never wears out. I actually know a great place in Merrick that does it. (all american girls and everyone of them is amazing) FM for the name and # Btw polish french changes colors in the sun and if you some they also discolor (never happens with the permanent)

I would love to have my own nails long enough, but I can't seem to grow them long enough without them constantly breaking, so I'll have tips or something done before the wedding. Whats the difference with Silk and Acrylic anyway?

Re: Nails on wedding day?
Well, I was originally going to stop biting my nails by Sweet 16. Then by my prom. Now, it's by my wedding, and it still doesn't look good. So, it looks like I will be getting tips with a French manicure. I've had tips twice before and they make my nails a mess, but I'll deal - it's not like they're great to begin with!

Re: Nails on wedding day?
I have had natural nails in the past, but I went back to bowling and can't maintain the long nails. But I definitely think having some length is more elegant looking, and there is just something about French that looks bridal to me. LOL. So I will definitely be putting tips on, and not bowling for a week or two, for the wedding.

Re: Nails on wedding day?
My own nails are wrapped right now. So closer to the wedding I will be doing wraps that look French. They don't chip and stay nice for a really long time!

Yes! It's my favorite color!! I try different shades of pink on, but even the manicurist agrees... it just looks so right on me!

Silk usually is much thinner than acryllic and looks more like a natural nail. Also, Silk isn't as bad for the nails, so nails recover much quicker from Silk than they do from Acryllic -- from my experience.
