PAY IN ADVANCE OR DAY OF WEDDING?

MY FI and I do not agree on this. I say pay everything beforehand so we dont have to worry about it and he says to pay the day of. What do you think?

I think it depends on the vendor. I think we paid the hall and the florist before and everyone else on the day off! (Just want to make sure they show up before they have all your $$!)

Check your contracts. Our hall requires final payment a week before. DJ day of and Photographer ou 2nd dp is due 30 days before and then the final $$ is due when we pick up the photos.

Compromise, designate someone to deal with that. I am going to give my brother an envelope for hte DJ and whoever else needs to be paid that day this way its of no concern to me but its taken care of.

I think it all depends on the contracts. My hall is 2 weeks before, the photographer is 3 weeks before, and my florist is the last appt (the month before). DJ is the day of.

i agree it depends on the vendor - i paid my limo company in advance my hall is on a payment plan they will be done ahead of time - my florist will be ahead of time - the band and the royal brass will be the day of basically because they requested it that way.
i dont want to be carrying huge amounts of money so i would rather just pay everything ahead of time.

oh i forgot my photographer will be when we pick up the pictures - after the honeymoon - isnt that great?

The only vendor of ours who didnt require 100% prior to the wedding was the photographer. And with that we couldnt get our proofs back until we paid the balance.

We tried to have as many loose ends taken care off prior to the wedding day. We didn't want to have to think about it nor carry more cash then necessary.

If it were up to FH, he wouldn't pay anyone until AFTER they provided their service. But it happens to be different for our different vendors.

It depends on the vendor as well as your budget. If you have the money and your vendor(s) requires all payments in full before services are rendered than certainly you pay in advance otherwise, pay later. Our photographer and videographer requires a deposit to be before the wedding and the balance upon picking up the proofs and before completion of video. Our hairdresser and make-up artist requires full balance to be paid on the day of the wedding. All tips and gratiutiy were paid on the day of the wedding. Everything else was paid in advance in full.

So, it really depends on the vendor(s) and your budget. IMHO, I say pay in advance but consider your budget and your contracts with your vendors. Get everything in writing and make a list of all payments, amounts, dates paid, etc.

Also be sure to get your copies of the contracts marked PAID IN FULL by the manager to avoid any misunderstandings on your wedding day.

Most of my vendors had to be paid 30 days before.. the hall included..

I think it depends on the vendor, but for piece of mind, I think it should be paid prior. Money is the last thing I want to worry about on my wedding day
