Clothing Donation

I would love to donate to the Salvation Army, but I am unable to head to Hempstead since I am leaving for Texas tomorrow. But my parents are selling their home and came across a ton of my old Abercrombie Clothing from College. I open the Walt Whitman Store and worked there forever so I have tons but since graduating college and getting married I have outgrown them stylewise.. etc.
Plus, I had no clue there were up here and I don't have the luggage to bring them with me.
So especially in this season of Advent I would love to donate them in one of the drop boxes.
I know there are St. Vincent boxes by Maria Regina by my house and then there are some by Walgreens by my parents home (I have no clue who sponsers them) but if I donate summer, spring, fall clothing do they just throw them out if it is out of season due to lack of room?

Does anyone know? or have any ideas.

Re: Clothing Donation

If you don't need a receipt for tax purposes, just throw it in your car and find a "dumpster" to put them in, that's what I do. Try looking in the phone book. Call your local church/temple to see if they could use the clothes.

Re: Clothing Donation

Try calling Big Brothers, Big Sisters. They accept clothes and will even come to your house and pick them up. My mom was getting rid of a bunch of clothes and called them. She had to put them in a big black garbage bag and put a label on them and put them on the curb the day they said they were coming. They also left her a receipt for tax purposes.

Re: Clothing Donation

Try Saint Mary's. They come to your door to pick it up and you do not have to be home. Try not to go to the drop offs because they are always full.
