Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I need help with a name. Hopefully you guys won't mind doing this for me. We are just having a helluva time. Now if I post my last name my husband will probably leave me for dead somewhere so please keep in mind our last name is Italian, it is 4 syllables, starts with an S and ends with an "ee" sound. I know that doesn't help much but it's the best I can do.
We are going to be using Margaret as a middle name after my husband's Grandmother.
Please try to take into consideration the possible nicknames and all that. Thanks guys!!!!

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I voted for Sophia because I think its a beautiful name with very little room for nasty nicknames but without knowing your last name (for whatever reason I think your last name is a 4 letter word that starts with c), its hard to say. And if you plan on using her full name a lot (as opposed to having a middle name more for formality) I dont think Sophia Margaret has a great ring to it.
I also really like Isabella but its longer (4 syllable first name + 4 syllable middle name + 4 long last name is eh to me). Although you could call her Bella for short which i think is pretty.

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
You have some great names on the list - I also voted for Sophia - it's a beautiful name and I agree with Stef- less room for ugly nicknames, kids can be so cruel - even Sofie for short is lovely!

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I voted for Isabella, I know alot of paretns that have named their children Isabella and Sophia, in the last year. I don't know if that bothers you or not, that there will be alot of kids with those. But I do like your choice in names.
My SIL named her daughter Ashley, just because she liked it, and I think everyone else named their kid Ashley in 1993.
What about waiting until she is born, so that you can see what name "fits".

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I first thought of Isabella, but hear it's pretty trendy now, so I tend to shy away from that. Then I decided on Sophia - a classic name making a comeback but always beautiful
Good luck with your decision!!!

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I love Isabella, that is my nieces name..but w/Margaret as a middle & four syllables as a last name Sophia just seems right to me. but you should just narrow it down, I was postive my son would be Michael, even refered to him as that during pregnancy & then named him Brian when he was born...he just wasn't a Michael!

I voted for Lia. If your last name is really long I would pick a short first name.

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
Isabella is a family name (just Isabel though) for DH...and they use the nickname Isa (Eesa) - just to keep it in mind
I voted Sophia though...since I had 2 aunts - Tante Sophie (Tante is aunt in German and Sophie pronounce Suffie) and I always thought how the name flows so well - and one made a mean butter cake!!!
but I know that you love Lola...and I think that would be a great name!!! you have to love having a song with your name in it...

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I definitely love Sophia and Isabella but it does seem like they are the two most popular names these days. i can count five little girls with those names already!
Not to confuse you more, but have you ever considered Lucia? (Lu-se-a)? My girlfriend just had a baby and named her that and she had also love the other two names. You can call her Lucy for short. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
Isabella is pretty but know that it is growing in popularity very quickly. There are LOTS of little Bellas running around - Isabellas, Gabriellas, etc.
I voted for Lola Margaret.
Good luck with your name selection and congratulations!

Re: Baby Needs a Name - Repost from Parenting...
I like a shorter name with a longer last name, so I voted for Lola (for some reason, I love that name-it seems so feminine to me).
I think you can also go with Isabella, like Isabella Rosselini (sp?) thats a great Italian name
