We found the guidebooks Kauai: Revealed adn Maui:Revealed to be hugh helps - the concierge at our hotel in Maui told us that the Revealed Guides are their bibles!

My FI has a friend at work that just went to Hawaii for his HM and they said that the Maui Revealed book was awesome. When they did the road to Hana they said the guide was extremely helpful and for all other points of interest they really hit prime spots.
