This is our last set of holidays as single people so we are each spending them with our own families! We figure we will be spliting holidays for the rest of our lives so why not just enjoy our family this year!

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
I'm hoping I can get away with spending just an hour at his mom's. His family is small and I see them all the time so I really want to spend more time with my family. Selfish, huh?

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
we won't be with either. Since we fly home for Christmas, we rarely go back to NY for Thanksgiving too.
Its been nice celebrating certain holidays with friends or just the two of us, though I guess with us moving this will probably be the last time we have that luxury.

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
I live with him and his parents right now, so we will be with my family, but his parents are coming, too. He really has no family locally. They are all around the country. Plus his mom is a nurse and is working T-Day til 3. So it's better off that we are going somewhere else.

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
We live in Virginia right outside DC, and we will be going to my parents house for Thanksgiving. We may be spending our first married Christmas away from our familes. I am upset, but he is my husband now....Since I am teacher I have two weeks off and can see my fam the week before. But it is so not the same.

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
No we are spending it here just the two of us
Since I haven't found a job we are living on FH's law school loans and since we have a lot to spend for the weddings -rings, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner, gifts etc. we can't affoard to fly home
But my parents bought us tickets to come home for christmas!!!!!!!!!!!
Then his mom and grandfather are invited for that. (his parents are divorced - he used to spend Christmas eve with dad and stepmom and christmas with mom, grandfather - then he would come over and visit us - but since we got engaged his mother and grandfather are now invited over to our house - since his brother goes to his wife's family and DOESN"T invite them over.

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
We actaully had a little fight about this last night For the past three years, we have always gone to his family first because they start earlier in the afternoon - spend all this time there and then get to my family - eat a little bit and are exhausted!!! Now he is pissy and says he doesn't want to do anything!

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
For some reason this is always a fight for us. Of course everyone wants to spend more time with their own family, but I think it is fair to alternate. One year Thanksgiving with my family, the next year with his. We are supposed to be doing that for every holiday, but it seems like it isn't working. So, we will have dinner with my family and go to FH's family for dessert! All I know is that I don't want to fight every holiday for the rest of my life!!!

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
chris'mrs - I know EXACTLY what you mean - read my post - I don't celebrate Christmas - so every year that is all about his family - which is fine because it's not my holiday - so why can't we spend some more time with my fam. on turkey day??

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
We will be doing double duty.
My family eats earlier so we go there first, then it is off to his parents house. It is a 5 minute ride between the two, we are lucky in this sense.

Re: Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family?
We will be spending our Thanksgiving at both houses. FH's GTG starts at 3:30pm and my family party starts at 8:00pm so we will be able to split the day.
