Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
When are you planning on getting married? It may help to call in advance and see if they have time frame available when you want to get married, just to save yourself the running around only to find the dates arent available. I looked at San Souci and it was so pretty. I heard the food is really good too. But it doesnt really hold more than 120-130 comfortably. We are having our reception at Milleridge so obviously I am pleased with what I know of them so far. You have to guarantee a certain amount (or pay a room fee if you cant) or they can partition off the Cottage and have a concurrent party going on (we were able to cover the minimum) or if your wedding is going to be small they also have the carriage house. Try the Search feature on this chat board using any of these places as a keyword. You will probably find alot of info that way. I do not know the others you are thinking about although I have to laugh at your comment re: the swan Club. I had my prom there too... Good Luck

Love Love Love Miller Place Inn. I got married there at the end of March. It is beautiful, one wedding at a time, GREAT food, and top notch service. I received so many compliments. One reason I also really like and reccomend the place is because it does not have a typical catering hall feel. www.millerplaceinn.com It is kinda far east, however, east of Smithtown on the northshore.

Ya know, I was gonna recommend them as well...Natalia and I are having our reception there next May. Miller Place Inn seriously stood out from the others. We really felt that they woudl treat us as special, not as one of three weddings that day. Check them out. J Love Love Love Miller Place Inn. I got married there at the end of March. Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
I agree. I went to a wedding there last August and it was phenomenal - very beautiful, great food, one of the prettiest settings I've seen in a long time. Good luck. My groomsmen are paying $153...my fiancee is in a wedding in August and he is paying $149. They are just expensive, unless you go with all the standards (vest, shoes)

Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
Jeremy- Great choice! I didnt have to worry about a thing! The maitred (sp) & bridal captain were great -the day went so smoothly. I was one of those very calm brides that didnt fuss too much over details and got a little nervous as the big day approached that things were not going to flow...not to worry, they managed all that with out me (its there biz, I guess). BTW, the cake that they provided was GREAT (we had yellow with strawberry moue)! Ok, enuff -best of luck

Dee and Elizabeth, Thank you both for the feedback! We could tell it would be great, but it always helps to hear good things...especially when you are planning from across the country! Thanks again, Jeremy Grooms point of view: Planning does suck but hey it will be fun. Friends and family enjoing the day. The honeymoon is the next day so not a bad deal. We are off to FIJI; can't wait. Two more weeks. Ok, enuff -best of luck

Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
Anna - I was married at the Swan Club in May 1999. I'm not from LI so I don't know if it's aprom place. But I absolutley loved it and would recommend it to anyone. The food was excellent, the gardens were gorgeous. My ceremony was in the pavilion and the doors at the front were open so we were semi-outside. Peter was my catering manager - whata doll! I can't say enough good things about the place. My guests all raved about it too. If you want more info, let me know. Thanks everone for the input...I have no idea on tux $ cuz we haven't done that ourselves yet. Not to mention, it's on HIS list of things to do...not mine :-)

Try "The Snapper Inn" in Oakdale. That's where we had ours. It's right on the water. The ceremony was outside and the ceremony was in a big white tent. They have heat lamps for your October wedding Thanks everone for the input...I have no idea on tux $ cuz we haven't done that ourselves yet. Dee- I am so glad you had such good things to say about the Miller Place Inn. I'm having my wedding there next May and I love it. It's good to hear someone who had their wedding there that liked it! I agree you should not budget on what you think you might get, believe me we sure didn't.

Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
I'm sure there are no lack of suggestions for places, but I will defend mine until I die....Land's End in Sayville...give them a call...and ask for Lesley....unbelievable food (people said it was the best food they've had at a wedding EVER!), amazing service, beautiful place, outdoor/indoor, doesn't matter....and the greatest staff (the bridal suite staff was so courteous and attentive, you felt like queen for a day!).... 631-589-1888 or www.landsendweddings.com.... I feel like a commercial Good Luck! I agree it's tacky to ask for a gift, but to come to a wedding in this day and age without a gift is twice as tacky....this was not a "football reception" like they had in the 1940s...this was a nice elegant affair that cost an arm and a leg.....luckily we made 100% of the reception costs, but not really much of anything else back...if it wasn't for the generosity of my parents....

Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
I agree about Lands End!! If we had the money, we would definately be there, but it was twice as much for thursday, July 4th, and I loved Eastwind as much, because it is cozy as Lands End is beautiful!! I was just married at Eastwind and it's beautiful, especially if you plan on a spring/summer wedding. The gardens are beautiful and the staff and food are unbelievable. Give Hampton Jitney a call - We do plays in Manhattan from out here all the time in groups for my company. We pay 600 - 650 for a bus of 48. The are out here somewhere. I too had people from NJ, NYC and then all the way out to Orient attending my wedding, so we picked Wading River right in the middle, sort of. Anyway, I chose a Friday afternoon. 12pm church and 1pm reception. Only 2 people didn't come. It was memorial day weekend. If you choose an early day time, people probably won't have a problem driving out. Weekends are tough to drive out east, unless! you do it early Saturday. like 1pm - 2pm, this way people can drive back in the light. If I can help with any questions, let me know.

Catering Hall ideas ? HELP !
I am booked at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst and I love it. We went to numerous other halls. I think it really depends on the atmosphere you are looking for. We really wanted something on or near the water (plus we come to the cocktail hour by boat). It's all in the ambiance. I didn't like Sans Souci because it was difficult to find and it advertised water nearby but it is across the street and over a busy road. Again, it depends on what you are looking for. Pricewise, I think they are around the same depending on time of year, day and time. If you have any questions specifically about Chateau such as price, and what I'm getting e-mail me and I'll tell you. No magic potions here ( I wish I had some I'd split it with you) Just best wishes.
