winter brides who are paying for their own wedding and have to deal with christmas shopping!!!!!

I am startingto worry. We are trying so hard to pay for most of the wedding with cash- so far so good. But xmas is throwing me for a loop. im not going crazy but I have a large family. how is everyone doing it. credit card? cash? anyone stressing out? My wedding is 2/7 and right after new years is when the final payments will be paid!!!

Re: winter brides who are paying for their own wedding and have to deal with christmas shopping!!!!!

FH keeps saying this will be a very poor Christmas for our families. LOL.. But i have so many children in my family (8 nieces and nephews all under the age of 12, and several young cousins) He has 2 nieces and 1 nephew under the age of 9. So i feel like as long as we buy the kids presents. We can buy something small for our parents and immediate families. But he keeps saying we should cut out family too, not parents but siblings.. I feel like we can always find a little something. Everyone deserves a little gift. But i completely understand. My wedding is 2/20 and we are doing all cash too. NO CREDIT CARDS, except for maybe my wedding dress. My mom has already paid for half of my dress, so it is still a little less. But everything is CASH. I completely understand how you are feeling... Plus FH and I have decided not to buy one another presents. Maybe a sweater or something each, but nothing extravagent.

I am going to improvise big time this year. Evryone knows we are getting marrie soon and have no money, so I am sure they aren't expecting anything. The only people getting actual presents this year are my mom, dad and brother. His dad, sister, son and nephew. For everyone else I am going to make up little movie baskets. I am going to buy those popcorn tubs at blockbuster and put some candy and other stuff in it with a movie rental passes. They should come out to maybe $15 dollars each which is right in my budget. Hopefully everyone will understand. If not, too bad!! It's the thought that counts!!

everybody understands that we are getting married and of course no one expects anything.. But it is hard, i am not scrooge. Something small is okay. And i have told my whole family not to buy me anything for christmas because i know my wedding is a big expense for my entire family and fh's family.

My FH and I set a very low cap for each other and we convinced both families to do secret santa's. So we only have to buy for one other member of each family and the kids, which I did online at Toys R Us. This way we aren't spending too much between the two of us.

Re: winter brides who are paying for their own wedding and have to deal with christmas shopping!!!!!

because my family has my wedding and the arrival of my sisters fisrt baby, we decided to draw a name and we have a 50 dollar limit, my family is all from out of state, so they have the expense of airfare for my wedidnga nd the new babys christening, I have the expense of my wedidng, plus I will be the god mother to the new baby, so I have that expense of giveing him a nice amount of cash, plus I am throwing my sister shower, five days before my wedding. So with having a limit, it makes it easier for all of us. My fh and I have a very small limit, we usually go all out for christmas, but just cant this year. My present is knowing Ill be married, tahst good enough for me!!!

OMG...I don't even know what I'm going to do...Xmas is 18 days after my wedding...I haven't even started to shop for people and probably won't have much time to after I get back from my honeymoon. So, I am keeping gifts very small this year and for the kids, I'll just go to TRU and bang that out one night and won't be spending a fortune on my nieces and nephews this year like I usually do.
