Is anyone using mini cakes as favors?

Hi ladies, I remember seeing some really cute favors a while ago where the bride used a miniature cake, smaller than a cupcake, in lieu of the typical candle, candy, etc.... It was a long time ago, and I think it was on the knot but I can't remember, so I thought I'd check in here! Has anyone else done this for favors? Or, do you know where I could maybe find pics of examples of these little cakes? We won a nice gift certificate from a bakery raffle at a bridal expo last year, and I think this would be a great way to put it to good use :) and yummy too!!! Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks so much!

I don't know who does them- but they are VERY expensive.

yeah, I seem to remember someone on the knot saying the same thing! I'm hoping that our gift certificate might help out a bit, it was for $250! :) I don't want to get too crazy with these though, no use doing it if it ends up being over $100, right? ;)

I was dying to do these, but they were way over priced for something perishable! I think Audrey's does them. Most bakery's do now. But they can be like 10-15 a pop depending upon how ornate you want them.

A cheaper alternative are the wedding cake cookies, those are around 6 each...

hee hee - love your "pic" misty! Thanks so much for the great idea - I didn't even think of cookies! I'll def. keep that in mind if these little tasties are more than we can afford to spend-gift certificate or not! Thanks for the alternative idea - cookies are just as good as cake anyway! :)
