Well I called CPS wait till u see this

As most of u have read my original post About how the lady lets her kids out side in a diapers in the freezing cols and worst of all lets them sit in the car unbuckled and so on.... I called CPS. I tell the lady that the mother lets the kids outside in the freezing cold half naked. But worst of all she doesnt put them in seat belts and before I could go any further.. She cuts me off an says have they ever been hurt? Like has she had an accident where theve been hurt, I said I dont think so I hope not. She said well theres nothing we can do. Ud have to call ure local Police Dept. They can take of there! So one of these children has to be hurt or god forbid Killed before CPS can do anything??? And the father is A cop u really think another cop is gonna do something!!!???? Im sick and beside myself I dont know what to do.... What a system huh.

Sad but true.

CPS is understaffed, overworked and underpaid. They palm off as much as they can. Without proof of injury they can't do anything. It would be like telling parents how to raise their children.

This kids are in Danger though. theres something wrong with letting ure child stand up in a moving vehicle

I would try calling again and see if you could speak to someone else - maybe make it seem worse than it is, without lying about it. That the children are outside unsupervised in the street for long periods of time and that anyone could swipe them or they could get hit by a car.

id try calling again... maybe your complaint can be put on file... and if something starts to happen they will already have a reccord?
maybe you can send the parents pamplets from a local hospital with information on how to buckle the child into the seat??

Have you tried speaking with the kids' parents? Say I see the kids in the car without a seatbelt?

I would also try calling again. Sound like you spoke to someone who just doesn't want to do their job.

I am a mandated reporter and there are three kinds of abuse; physical, sexual and neglect. Obviously these children are being neglected and CPS should open a file and investigate.

If you call again, maybe you could tell the worker that you know the laws and this is clearly neglect of these children and as you understand it they must investigate. If they still give you the run around ask to speak to a supervisor.

You could also remind them of the Lisa Steinberg case. No one did anything and a little girl died and a lot of people went to jail for that!

ETS: At least you tried. It's horrible that now you have to wait for her to do something worse....

They cant even investigate??? How do they know that nothing has ever happened or noone else ever called before you if they didnt even bother to look into it?? I saw a terrible case at work with a girl who was almost dead, and we found out afterwards she was a CPS case that slipped through the cracks. They didnt do anything until the child was brought to the ER almost lifeless, and then they decide to do something. Its sad that it takes that in order for them to pay attention.

ya I couldnt blieve that they saidshe needs to have an accident for them to step in???? Im afraid if she has an accident one of the kids will go through the windsheld and die!!! and then they can take charge of the other kids????

Call again. Believe me I have problems with CPS. Long story but my fi daughter was living with her mother and we knew stuff was going on drugs etc. and we called they have to investigate go to the house within 48 hours and then decide what the problem is. They have to maybe you should make it sound a little worse, speak to a supervisor.

Long story short with us they investigated and said because she lives with the grandmother she is not endanger. yeah ok

Finally we took her to court for custody and sure enough - positive for drugs. 10 times came to court and tested positive she even tried to use someone elses urine (which was positive as well) finally they gave us sole custody and believe it or not she went on to have another baby while she is on drugs. Now she and her baby is in a rehad clinic The system sucks- You would think that they would take this baby away but nope!

Sorry had to vent that! I get so mad at CPS. I just had to bring my stepdaughter 8yrs old to school crying because of her fking mother

I think you should keep calling. Things like this make me SOOO MAD.
Another thing is if their father is an NYPD Detective depending on his connections and stuff maybe nothing will be done if it is investigated. I know its sad but I still say you keep on trying.

Kristin- you live in nassau? right? I dont see why nassau cops would fear a NYPD Detective? they probably dont even know him! and if you dont say the father is a Detec no one would know

Tammy, I am talking about after the investigation. If they do an investigation they will def know he is an NYPD Det.

Tammy as having your husband working in the NYPD force as a captain you must know that some of these cops have connections everywhere. I am not saying that this detective does because we don't know how important this detective is but you just never know. I have many friends in high levels in NYPD and when they need something done out here in Nassau they have there connections too.

but a lot of people dont have any connections
your right maybe this guy does but I find people w/ "connections" are few and far between. I wish I had some for craig then he wouldnt have such a far commute!

Yeah it is a very small possibility but I think she should not give up and keep complaining.

If she has close neighbors also that can call in and complain this way CPS does what they should do and investigate this family.

Im not going to say anything to them. That would not be cool. The father is just as much as an A$$hole as the mother. He drives drunk and one time crashed into my neighbors car never apoligized or offered to get it fixed. His Nephew broke into My FH car and stole his system in day light at Kmart and got caught and this guy try to pay my FH off so the kid wouldnt go to jail. FH said No way what kinda lesson does that teach them?
