i know I am biased, but we didn't get that reception hall feel from westbury manor. We felt it was more "homey".
Good luck with your search.

Re: Reception Hall Help!

Try the Bayview House at Captain Bills - the decor is very simple and the space is just gorgeous. It doesn't really have a reception hall feel at all.

ETA: It is right on the water too!

Three Village Inn in Stony Brook!
So beautiful and will accept only 50 guests and it is NOT a reception hall.

Re: Reception Hall Help!

Yeah, I agree with the Irish Coffee Pub OR a restaurant type feel because if you are only having about 50 people it would be tuff to get a place (meaning a hall) to book you when they could book a 100++ person wedding.
Some of the places that have multiple rooms MIGHT be able to... I know the Westbury Manor and Watermill both have small rooms. My family had a dinner (about 50 of us) in a small room at the Watermill. Other than that, I could suggest Lombardi's on the Sound because they have great food and an upstairs restaurant that does small parties. Same thing with Giorgio's--they have a restaurant and maybe they could give you a small room.
Try calling around, you never know!

Re: Reception Hall Help!

I was def going to suggest a restaurant. I don't know many catering halls that would do a wedding for only 50 people. Many restaurants have private rooms, they have very nice package's. My personal favorite is Seventh Street Cafe in Garden City. The hold up to 60 people in their private room and their prices are not bad at all (anywhere from about $30-$50 a person).

Good Luck!

Re: Reception Hall Help!

Caffe on the Green in Bayside is perfect for a smaller wedding, and it does not feel like a hall at all since it is a restaurant. If you live close to Queens, then I would check it out.

Re: Reception Hall Help!

I second EastWind...Country Gardens is the smallest one of the 3 places to choose from, plus they are really helpful in working with you to make everything possible. They came down on the number I had to guarantee as well as the price!!

Also, one of my sisters got married at Three Village Inn in 2000 and it was beautiful- not reception hall like at all. A friend recently was married there last June and she picked it because it didn't feel like a regular catering hall.

Re: Reception Hall Help!

Sunset Harbour, I think is in Patchouge
it had a pretty little lobby, an outdoor deck and a T-shaped room with a view of the sunset over a little canal. It was pretty and intimate.

Plus I hear the food is outstanding. I think it was something like $70 for a Saturday night in the summer.

Re: Reception Hall Help!

Jonathons Restaurant on Jericho turnpike has a room that holds approx. 75, i am a huge advocate for that place it is yummy!!!

George Washington Manor has smaller rooms and is at a great location in Roslyn by the pond.

I would also check Milleridge.

Good Luck!
