Helena & Matt's Atlantica wedding
Aug 8 2009 9:43AM

A beautiful wedding at Atlantica on Thursday 8/6/09. Helena & Matt had every intention of getting married on Ponquogue Beach- the benches were rented, we had hand-painted signs for a shoe check, with towels for the guests to wipe off the sand too, but the weather was giving us all a lot of doubt.

Our beautiful bride made the official decision to scrap the beach plans and have the ceremony & reception at Atlantica in Westhampton Beach. And despite the fact that every single weather forecast was wrong and the rain avoided us, they were still able to take all of their pictures outside on the beach.

The service, the staff at Atlantica is top notch. Lisa, Jessica and Nicole run this place like a well oiled machine. I love working with them! The food was amazing too. My favorite treat- Lisa (Maitre'D) gave me a piece of cake that was cut wrong, and didn't want to waste it- and I couldn't just let it be thrown out. It was sooo delicious.

Oh and I did forget to say, our bride and groom were stunning! One of the highlights of the wedding was the anniversary dance. I have seen this done before and it is always nice, but the bride knew in advance that the winners would be the groom's grandparents- and when they were the only ones left on the floor, the DJ put the Grandparent's wedding song on. It was beautiful watching them still glide across the dance floor after 67-years!

Up next for me Christine & Alarik's wedding at Stage 6, Steiner Studios in Brooklyn! Until then, happy planning!

Joe & Jen's and Gina & Vinny's Weddings & more too!
Aug 6 2009 10:00AM

Been busy this week- in between my weddings for Joe & Jen and Gina & Vinny, I was asked to help out a fellow event planner and his amazing team to coordinate and set-up "Super Saturday 12." For those who don't know, this is a huge event in Water Mill (Hamptons) that has been dubbed a "garage sale for celebrities." The event benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and was truly fascinating.

We started setting up an empty field on Thursday, helped tents go into place, plotted out where the tables for vendors go (all the high-end designers) and literally watched it transform into a shoppers village. We even set up a special section for the kids- complete with their own carnival, and lounge area (which I personally had fun setting up).

Friday I was coordinating Jen & Joe's wedding in Lynbrook & the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park. Jen was a Kellenberg graduate and her priest was her former teacher. I have to tell you that this was probably one of my most favorite ceremony's yet- it was so genuine and real and just beautiful. The reception at Bridgeview Yacht Club was great too. I had never been there before, but apparently they just did a load of renovations and it is beautiful inside. The staff was on top of things and our bride & groom were smiling the whole day.

Saturday I went to work the Super Saturday event. Highlights for me: helping QVC drape all of their tables. They ordered round mango tablecloths and didn't bring round tables w/ them... I told them I can fold the cloth into a runner, and drape/pleat it in the front and they loved it. I had 5-tables to decorate.

There were celebs everywhere- Kelly Ripa and her gorgeous hubby Mark, Lorraine Bracco, Rudy Guiliani, Barbara Walters, Blake Lively, Russell Simmons... plus more... Can't wait for next year!

Sunday I had Gina & Vinny's wedding at the Swan Club. Our beautiful bride & handsome groom decided to see each other before the ceremony & had a private reveal to make the most of their day- luckily the rain held out long enough for them to take pictures outside. The humidity was another factor and one of the ceremony room's at Swan Club is air conditioned. Gina really wanted an outdoor wedding, but the Pavillion room had a nice indoor/outdoor feel here and again the A/C made all of her dreams for being outside go away quickly. The staff at Swan Club was superb and they did a great job- Robert, Joseph, Evelyn- all on top of it and a pleasure to work with.

Now, I am prepping for Helena & Matt's beach wedding in Hampton Bays. Hopefully the rain will hold out so we can have our ceremony on the beach, with reception to follow at the Atlantica. I'll be back with my review of this wedding. Until then, happy planning!

Carlos & Liz's Wedding
Jul 29 2009 2:20PM

Carlos & Liz had a beautiful wedding last Friday (7/24) at the East Wind. I have to say to all the East Wind brides out there- you are in good hands- from Lou, Mike, Scott your Maitre'd to Mary Lou your bridal attendant- they know what the are doing- and it is truly refreshing to work with professionals who care about making a couple's wedding dreams come true.

Liz was worried about whether or not the plans for an outdoor ceremony would be dampened by the rain, but I told her "It's not aloud to rain for my brides" and it didn't... I wish I could guarantee sunny days for all my girls in my contracts, but I don't want to jinx my luck either- lol!

Liz truly looked beautiful and Carlos wasn't too shabby either. Her theme of tiffany blues worked really well together and were highlighted with all of her matching accessories- menus, placecards, programs, you name it...

I think the best part by far was her cake, and I think the happy couple will agree too. It was outstanding. Can't wait to see pics and hear about their honeymoon when they come home. They're having a blast in Disney right now.

Up next for me, Jen & Joe's wedding on Friday and Gina & Vinny's wedding on Sunday. I'm prepping for them now and will give you a review of both of their special days when I come back.

Thanks to all my Green Girls!
Jul 22 2009 10:50PM

We had a successful seminar last night. I have to admit I thought the rain would have kept everyone away. Thankfully, it did not dampen our spirits and we had a great night. Laurie from LA Blossoms completely out-did herself. From the live curly willow plants with roots exposed, to the all herb bride's bo-k... GORGEOUS! We will post pics soon!

Also, the giveaways that we had were pretty cool. We hooked up with some amazing environmentally-friendly companies and gave away some plantable boxes, seed paper shaped butterfly favors, recycled paper invites, eco-fetti and skincare products too.

The seminars at Fantasia are so much more than just picking a topic and talking about it, it really is a great night of networking and working with our brides and helping them (you) to see all the options out there, without pressure, just a night out with the girls, for the girls.

Hope you'll come to our next one August 18th! OK- now I'm going back to prepping for Liz & Carlos' wedding at East Wind Friday.

So excited!
Jul 21 2009 12:22PM

Tonight's "planning your Green wedding" seminar is looking great. We have all our presenters confirmed, plus the giveaways are all here too.

If you have some time and want something to do inside because of the horrible rainy weather, hope to see you come down.

Laurie from L.A. Blossom will be talking about green favors, bo-ks and centerpieces...

We have Lisa a former bride, talking about skincare & nutrition...

We have Mike from organiccleaning.net telling us how and why we can clean with better products...

And I'll chat a little bit about unique locations to get married, ways going green can save you money, as well as food and decor ideas.

Next up for me is Liz & Carlo's wedding this Friday! I am wishing them sunny thoughts for a beautiful day!

And the winner is...
Jul 16 2009 7:23PM

L.A. Productions is proud and excited to announce our award from ISES at the Big Apple Awards.

The ISES- International Special Events Society- awarded us for
"Best Social Event: Budget Over $1000 per Guest" at the Big Apple Awards.

The Gala was held in NYC, at the Lighthouse in Cheslea Piers. Fun location with great food and a great view!

A little funny story about the big night: my Oheka bride Lisa and her Mom Debbie came to show their support at the dinner, along with my hubby Joe, and while we were chatting (trying to think of anything other than the fact that my award was being called next) they called "LA Productions"... I was sitting patiently, waiting for the other nominees to be named... they never named them... I guess they were trying to save some time and skipped the nominee naming part, and went right onto the winner... anyway, I waited, and even though it was probably only a few seconds, it seemed liked minutes that went by, when everyone at my table yelled- "Laura, it's you! You won!" I got up, not believing them and made my long walk up to get my pretty crystal apple. My legs were shaking the whole time. lol!!

Thanks for letting me share! I'll be trying to post on LIW's blog once a week, and if I have more to say, a little more often. I hope you'll come back when I do.
